Chalets and apartments on the border of Styria to Carinthia

The Turracher Höhe is an idyllic alpine lake plateau, which lies at around 1,800 m above sea level directly at the pass crossing between the two Austrian federal states of Styria and Carinthia. In the middle of one of the largest contiguous stone pine forests in Austria and framed by numerous peaks, some of which protrude well above the two-thousand-meter mark, a stay in the Turracher Höhe Alpine Park by Alps Residence is a very special nature experience that is unparalleled in Austria. In winter there is a varied ski area with 42 kilometers of slopes of varying difficulty. In summer, mountaineers will find a true hiking paradise.

Holidays next to the ski Slopes - Turracher Höhe

Anyone who not only appreciates spacious, comfortable accommodation, but is also looking for an untouched natural landscape in combination with a diverse range of leisure activities, is in good hands in the Turracher Höhe Alpine Park. Located in the immediate vicinity of the mountain railways of the ski area around the Turrachsee, the extraordinary holiday complex consists of 49 free-standing wooden chalets, which are built on stilts in the middle of the pine forest and offer a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. In the main building "Alpenresidenz", directly at the valley station of the Kornockbahn, there are eleven apartments in addition to the reception for those who want close proximity to the slopes.

From cozy apartments to modern chalets with pool and sauna

The offer in the Alpenpark Turracher Höhe ranges from cozy apartments to luxurious wellness chalets on the border between Styria and Carinthia. All units are equipped with a comfortable living, dining and kitchen area.

If you prefer something smaller, more cozy and want to live directly on the slopes, one of the apartments in the "Alpenresidenz" is in good hands. The comfortably furnished holiday apartments with their alpine ambience create a pleasant feel-good atmosphere. There is space for two to six people on 32 to 77 m² of living space with up to three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The high-quality chalets in modern wooden construction impress with contemporary furnishings and a spacious private wellness area including sauna, indoor whirlpool and sometimes even an outdoor jacuzzi on the terrace. Depending on the type of house, they have four to six bedrooms and several bathrooms and offer an exclusive living experience for eight to 16 people on 120 to 140 m². Open gas fireplaces create a cozy atmosphere in the evening. The spaciousness of the cozy wellness chalets and the wide distance between the houses allow a lot of privacy.

Butler-Service included

With the Butlercard, which is included in the price for all guests of the Alpenpark Turracher Höhe, you can enjoy an exclusive VIP service in both summer and winter. The advantages range - depending on the season - from free mountain railway rides and free use of the “Nocky Flitzers” to attractive discounts with various service partners and leisure activities. The centerpiece, however, is the butler program. With this you can experience a varied, exclusive weekly program accompanied by a piste butler in winter or an alpine butler in summer. Unforgettable holiday moments and small surprises are guaranteed.

Winter holidays Turracher Höhe

Located at almost 1,800 meters at the transition between Styria and Carinthia, the Turracher Höhe is one of Austria's most snow-reliable regions and offers skiing fun from November to the beginning of May. Winter dreams do not only come true on the perfectly groomed 42 kilometers of slopes. Away from the slopes through the picturesque stone pine forests, there is also a diverse winter paradise that can be easily explored from the Turracher Höhe Alpine Park. The 11 apartments in the main “Alpenresidenz” building are located in the immediate vicinity of the slopes and are only a stone's throw from the Kornockbahn valley station. But fun on the slopes is also only a few hundred meters away from the 49 dreamy wellness chalets, which are built on stilts and sit idyllically between the treetops.

Skiing Holiday

The Turracher Höhe ski area (1,400 - 2,205 m) is an insider tip among the numerous ski resorts in the border triangle of Styria-Carinthia-Salzburg. 42 km of slopes with guaranteed snow in combination with 14 modern cable cars and lifts make the hearts of skiers and snowboarders alike beat faster. The highlights include the 1.5 km long "Snowpark Turracher Höhe" and the "XXL Funslope", one of the longest funslopes in the world. Those who prefer a circular course should try the 12 km long “Turracher Höhe Seenrunde”, where you can get an optimal overview of the ski area. An extraordinary highlight is the so-called "sea taxi", which provides the connection across the frozen Turracher See.

Cross-country skiing& ice skating

In addition to a total of 25 km of marked winter hiking trails, which lead through deeply snow-covered pine forests or along the three mountain lakes - Turracher See, Schwarzsee and Grünsee - the Turracher Höhe is also known as a cross-country paradise. There is a total of four different trails (from classic to skating) with a length of around 16 km to choose from. On a nearly two-kilometer-long course, for example, you can do a lap on the frozen Turracher See and on the seven-kilometer longest trail you can discover the natural Weitental. In addition, the Turracher See also offers a small but fine natural ice rink on around 850 m².

Highlights for your family vacation

Thanks to the compactness of the ski area and the wide slopes, the Turracher Höhe is ideal for a family ski holiday. Especially for the little ones, there is the entertaining kid's slope "Nocky's WinterZeit" right at the practice meadow lift. In the meantime, the older ones can have fun in the "funcross". If that's not fast enough for you, you can take the “Nocky Flitzer” alpine roller coaster on the Carinthian side of the ski area, which is also open in winter, from the mountain station of the Panoramabahn over a 1.6 km route towards the valley .

Turracher Höhe Pistenbutler

As guests of the Alpenpark Turracher Höhe you can enjoy a free VIP service. Holidaymakers discover the most beautiful sides of winter in the company of the charming piste butler. If necessary, he not only provides you with handkerchiefs, sun cream or a glass of Prosecco and from March with delicious mountain farmer's ice cream, but also invites you off-piste, for example, on a family snowshoe hike, the morning hour trilogy or a look behind the scenes of the cable car operation.

Favorite Places

Maria Weilharter

My name is Maria Weilharter. As resort manager of Alpenpark Turracher Höhe by ALPS, I am excited to see you here. Because I have roots in the Murtal holiday region, I am delighted to introduce you to the most beautiful excursion destinations and best holiday tips in the area. Guaranteeing that the time you spend here in my homeland will be absolutely magical.

Due to its topographical location, the Turracher Höhe belongs half to Styria and half to Carinthia, lending itself to excursions in both Austrian provinces

I look forward to welcoming you to the Turracher Höhe in person.

Tip 1:  Landskron Castle Ruins

Burg Landskron, with its Eagle Arena and Ape Mountain, is a marvelous excursion destination for the whole family. The toll road up to the ruins is an easy drive (Ossiacher Süduferstraße, Schlossbergweg In the Eagle Arena, I am always impressed by the acrobatics of the “kings of the air”. This 40-minute show with eagles and falcons is absolutely memorable. No less fascinating is Ape Mountain, home to approximately 160 Japanese macaques. If you would like to take a closer look “behind the scenes”, we suggest booking a private tour with an experienced animal keeper or primatologist.

Burg Landskron is also the starting point for the popular, kid-friendly “Lord of the Castle Tour”. Taking approximately one and a half hours, it leads from the castle pond to the “Jungfernstieg” and the “White Wall”. Also be sure to set aside some time for a refreshment break and to enjoy the views!

Klagenfurt & Villach

Tip 2: Klagenfurt & Villach

If all the rest and relaxation should ever become “too much” for you, I recommend making a trip into the city. Klagenfurt and Villach are both only a 60-minute drive from here. Klagenfurt isn’t only the biggest city in Carinthia, it is also the provincial capital. No wonder, then, that the shopping opportunities are many and varied, while the downtown area represents a marvelous opportunity for a leisurely stroll. Furthermore, the west of Klagenfurt stands on famous Lake Wörthersee, where you will discover a beautiful 40,000 m² swimming area with 3 swim docks and a 300 m-long sandy beach.

Villach exudes Mediterranean flair. Hardly surprising, since this city lies close to the Italian border. This city of 60,000 residents can easily be explored on foot and, if you ever wish to take a break in between, you will be able to relax completely as you indulge yourself in a delicious Italian gelato somewhere along the picturesque Drau Promenade.

Carinthian Lakes

Tip 3: Carinthian Lakes

In Carinthia on the sunny side of the Alps, you will discover some of the most beautiful and warmest lakes in the entire Alpine region, Lake Wörthersee, with its turquoise-blue tones and almost Caribbean flair, at the head of the pack. From Alpenpark Turracher Höhe to cosmopolitan Velden on the western bay, the total distance is only 60 km. Standing above Wörthersee is yet another top Carinthian excursion destination, the Pyramidenkogel – which, at 100 m, boasts the highest wooden lookout tower in the world. The panoramas from up there are absolutely sensational.

The second-biggest lake and also one of the warmest lakes in Carinthia, Millstätter See, is roughly 40 minutes away by car. While Ossiacher See and Faaker See are likewise less than an hour from here.

Spa Resort

Tip 4: Spa Enjoyment

If you leave the Turracher Höhe heading south, in roughly 20 minutes you will find yourself in Bad Kleinkirchheim. There, in the heart of the Carinthian Nockberge, two spa resorts invite you to escape the outside world completely. At Thermal Römerbad, you are greeted by an incomparable array of wellness opportunities including a sauna center on 3 floors and spanning 12,000 m². Therme St. Kathrein, on the other hand, boasts the biggest water area of all Carinthian spa resorts as well as an 86 m-long slide guaranteed to appeal to families especially. Because it is so close, a trip to Bad Kleinkirchheim is also convenient even after a day full of mountain adventures.

Murau

Tip 5: Murau – the “beer town”

But you don’t only find spectacular excursion destinations south of the Turracher Höhe. Upper Styria also has a lot to offer, too. With its medieval charm, the historic downtown area of Murau invites you to take an extended walk, to imposing Schloss Murau, for example, enthroned majestically above the town with a history that goes back to the year 1250. In 2010, Murau was also honored as a “beer town”. You simply have to taste the delicious Murauer Bier, while a guided brewery tour will reveal all the secrets behind this delectable beverage.

There is yet another attraction you simply have to see during your excursion to Murtal in Styria: the Wood Museum in St. Ruprecht ob Murau, a fascinating world of wood spanning 10,000 m². It is amazing to see all the things that can be made out of wood.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS TURRACHER HÖHE

The Turracher Höhe is located in the Nock Mountains on an almost 1,800 m high Alpine crossing between the Austrian federal states of Styria and Carinthia. The holiday region, which extends around three picturesque mountain lakes (Turracher See, Schwarzsee and Grünsee), is not only considered the home of the largest contiguous stone pine forest in Austria, but all of Europe. The next larger town - Villach with its more than 60,000 inhabitants - is around 60 km or an hour's drive away. Thanks to the unique natural landscape and the diverse possibilities for vacation planning, the Turracher Höhe is the ideal summer destination in the Austrian Alps and the Alpine Park Turracher Höhe the ideal holiday resort to enjoy this natural gem to the full.

Hiking holidays

The Turracher Höhe is a true hiking paradise that can offer leisurely hikes as well as challenging mountain tours, for example to the 2,441 m high Eisenhut. Right on the doorstep of your apartment in the "Alpenresidenz", the Kornockbahn takes you to a height of almost 2,200 m, from where the 2,334 m high Rinsennock can be easily reached. You can also set off straight away from your wellness chalet and wander through the secluded Swiss stone pine forests. A special highlight is the mountain walk on the idyllic 3-lake path, which can be extended from 30 minutes to up to two hours depending on your mood and, thanks to its design with stations for alpine sensory experience, is also recommended for families. Those who are sure-footed and have no fear of heights can put their skills to the test on the newly built “Hoher Steg” via ferrata, which extends over a length of 400 m and has levels of difficulty A to C.

Biking Holiday

The holiday region offers bike fun for young and old. The new "Turracher Höhe Trail Area" is specially geared towards the target group of families. The extensive offer includes the 5 km long, natural "Kornock Flowtrail", which meanders over 350 meters in altitude, accompanied by wonderful views of the Turracher See, towards the valley. There are also numerous practice areas and technical trails on which even beginners can prepare perfectly for the flow trail under the guidance of guides. And for e-bike fans there are various signposted touring routes that lead over forest paths and alpine pastures. In addition, as a designated bike operation, the Alpenpark Turracher Höhe is particularly geared towards the needs of bike guests.

Family Holiday Turracher Höhe

With its wide range of leisure activities, the Turracher Höhe offers the ideal conditions for a successful mountain summer family holiday. The most outstanding attractions are located directly on the Panoramabahn, only 1 km from the "Alpenresidenz". The children's adventure world "Nocky’s AlmZeit", a circular route with seven exciting play stations, awaits you right at the mountain station at 2,000 m above sea level. After a culinary refreshment in the AlmZeit hut, the legendary alpine roller coaster "Nocky Flitzer" takes you back down to the Turracher Höhe in rapid curves over a 1.6 km route. Finally, with the “mythos edelstein” children up to the age of 14 can dig gemstones themselves and look for nuggets while panning for gold.

Summer Butlercard

As guests of the Alpenpark, you can enjoy the Almbutler Card and the associated pampering service free of charge. The Almbutler accompanies you in a traditional alpine outfit on a sunrise or family hike followed by a lake picnic, takes you on an e-bike tour, prepares a summit breakfast, organizes a varied program for children and young people (4 to 18 years old) and Much more. In addition, there are numerous other inclusive services such as a daily free ride on the Panoramabahn, the Kornockbahn and the “Nocky Flitzer” as well as various discounts.
